Malachi’s Storehouse is excited to announce that we are the recipient of a grant of $10,400 from Episcopal Community Foundation of Middle and North Georgia (ECF). This grant is to be used to purchase protein for our food pantry from the Atlanta Community Food Bank for the period of 1 year.

How did this happen?
“Each year the Episcopal community shows up to not only participate in the Hunger Walk/Run, but to raise funds to support those facing food insecurity in our community,”said Lindsey Hardegree, Executive Director for the Episcopal Community Foundation for Middle and North Georgia. “The need is great. More than 25 percent of Georgia children face food insecurity, and Georgia is seventh in the nation for senior citizens facing hunger. Funds raised by our parishes through the Hunger Walk/Run are granted back to our communities to help end hunger.”

Episcopal parishes throughout the city walked and raised money for ECF in the Hunger Walk this year, just as St. Patrick’s walked for Malachi’s. In turn, ECF granted a portion of their proceeds from the Hunger Walk back to Malachi’s! This truly is an Episcopal community effort to support those facing food insecurity in our communities!

Furthermore, ECF was impressed with the meaningful partnership that Malachi’s has with St. Patrick’s, and hopes that this partnership will continue to not only support Malachi’s Storehouse but to provide a meaningful outreach opportunity for the parish.

We plan to count our chickens now that they are hatched, thanks to this grant from ECF!ECF-Logo-Main-300ppi
